Barrow 1618 Church of England Free School is a small, local school that was set up by parents using the Free School legislation. The school is Church of England, state funded and free to attend for pupils from Reception through to Year 6. The site is also the setting for the excellent Little Acorns Montessori Nursery which has recently been judged as outstanding by Ofsted, in addition to their main site at Morville Village Hall. Montessori education provides a gentle and child centred range of experience promoting a child’s natural curiosity and a love of learning.
As well as offering an innovative curriculum for its pupils, centring on learning opportunities presented by the natural environment, the school makes its facilities available to other pupils living locally.
The Barrow 1618 school motto, ‘Supportive, Understanding, Reassuring Education’ sums up the school’s vision. We want to create a lively, inspiring school where children can excel in a supportive, caring environment with a strong Christian ethos. We are determined to create an inclusive culture of learning where all children are challenged in their thinking, strive for continuous improvement, and are motivated to become lifelong learners.
